Our trip up the West Coast May 2009
We took a trip up the Pacific Coast of California and Oregon this spring. These are a few memories of that trip. Enjoy!
Day 1
Our first stop: Gaviota, California

Do these boys look happy to be out of the car, or what??
Next Stop: Cambria, California

Cambria Beach

Walking Moonstone Beach at sunset.....

Can I do it, Mom?
Day 2
Hearst Castle, San Simeon, California

The view of Hearst Castle from the bottom of the Enchanted Hill

Doug feeling quite at home on the veranda

What a fancy pool for Dachshunds.....

The indoor pool and diving platform

This is the front door of the Castle

The outdoor pool
Days 3,4, and 5
San Francisco, California
First stop: Alcatraz Island

The boys decided they didn't want to spend anymore time in a prison....

The view from Alcatraz Island
Next stop: Coit Tower

Christopher Columbus statue outside of Coit Tower

The 3 men in front of Coit Tower
Next stop: The Golden Gate Bridge

Golden Gate Bridge in the background

The whole family in front of the Golden Gate Bridge- a very windy place!
Next stop: Lombard Street- the crookedest street in the world!

The top of Lombard Street- we took this same photo 15 years ago.....
after the photo, we drove down Lombard Street- very slowly! We couldn’t drive down it 15 years ago because a tour bus had hit the side of the road and was stuck

The flowers are beautiful along Lombard Street in the spring
Day 6
Continuing up the 5 freeway toward Oregon

The view of Mount Shasta from the freeway
This mountain was much more impressive in person- for some reason my camera can’t pick up the difference in the colors of the sky and the mountain….
We made it all the way to Medford and stayed in a nice hotel right on a beautiful river. Our balcony actually was right over the water and we could hear the water from our room. I didn’t get any pictures unfortunately- way too tired from all that driving!
Day 7
Oregon!
Here we are finally arrived in Oregon! It has been long trip- but it is beautiful up here.

Our family in Oregon
Great photos! I’m so glad you are photo-journaling the trip. I can’t stop missing you guys but continue to pray for travel mercies and that you have a wonderful time bonding together as a family Maybe you’ll want to consider adventure-schooling next! If so, count me in!!
Thanks for the pictures, they are great. I can,t believe the boys are so big! Doug, on the veranda, looks like he owns the place. Stay safe and keep the pictures coming. Belated Happy Mothers Day to Steph, and hugs for all. Thelma/Mom/Grandmom
