I like to make handmade items for presents. My little niece is turning two today and I decided to try my hand at making her a stuffed toy. Now my history of making stuffed toys goes way back to Jr. High in Home Ec class. Everyone had to make a stuffed animal in that class- we did get to pick which animal we would like to make though. My choice is rather obvious- I lived on a farm and had lots of dogs, cats and horses running around so naturally I chose…….. a walrus……yes, a walrus. I made a stuffed walrus out of pink gingham with a pink felt nose. I got an F, or a D-, or something like that, I can’t remember. Needless to say, making stuffed toys has been an uphill climb, but I enjoy the process!
Hillary Lang, over at Wee Wonderfuls, has some adorable patterns for stuffed toys including the pointy kitty. He’s very little but with a tall tail! I hope my sweet cutie-pie niece likes it! Her bedroom is decorated in fushia and lime – so I thought I would use that as a guideline for my fabric choices. I also added a little mouth and whiskers- I think she will notice the detail- she has 3 kitties of her own and is a very sharp girl

Completed projects for 2009
January 12, 2010I thought it would be fun to make a little photo diary of the projects I have finished this year. It has not been a very productive year as far as crafting goes, but very productive in other areas of our lives. It is difficult to spend time being creative while moving so most of the summer was lost, but I did manage to squeeze in a few projects during the rest of the year.
- A Baby doll for my cousin’s daughter
- A new bed quilt for each of my sons- (they picked out the fabrics……)
- A teeny tiny cardigan sweater for Kathryn’s doll
- A bible bag
- A Zamora sweater for myself

- A Baby doll for my niece’s daughter (I also made one of these for my brother’s daughter, but I didn’t snap a photo of it before I sent it off to her
)
- A Babette blanket
- 49 capes and 27 tunics for our church Reformation Party
- A rag quilt for Baby Josiah…. didn’t get a picture of that one
That is all I can think of right now….hopefully I will do better this year. Happy New Year everyone!
